London calling

It's always refreshing to see LFW's offerings in between NY, Milan and Paris. There's something special about London, it's my favourite fashion week. Mainly because the designers showing there are younger, more fun, more experimental and daring. Anything goes, really. For the last few seasons, there's been three designers I feel that have really stood out from the crowd; Christopher Kane, Todd Lynn and Richard Nicoll. They've all managed to find their own signature and build up their own brands in a short amount of time, but still manage to suprise us every season. Take Kane, as an example. He started out with ultrashort body-con dresses in neon colours. Since then, he's gone from black witches to Beverly Hills in the 90's, to sophisticated outerwear, to Planet of the Apes looks, and now: Understated working class mixed with glamour! His newest collection mixes scottish checks with organza and chiffon, and in a way it seems more 2009 than anything else.

Todd Lynn cuts a mean suit (for both sexes) and oozes rock'n'roll.

Richard Nicoll, meanwhile, combines colours and styles in his own way - from spring's pastels, he's now gone for silver, grey and white, a truly modern mix.
