Rockabilly style

I've had a good easter blogging break, but am now back with a B O O M. After having fallen asleep a bit in trend class (not literally), I went to Manchester and got some new inspiration. I've decided to step up (no, not 2 the streets) my fashion game, and so should you.

What I noticed from the shops, is that denim is seriously everywhere, from thrift shops to Topshop to designer boutiques. A lot of the denim items, especially the jackets, seem to be inspired by the 50's Rockabilly look. I found an amazing denim jacket with studs that read "Devils" at the back; a typical Rockabilly reference. (Sadly enough, it didn't fit!) So one of my style references for spring will definitly be Rockabilly, as well as the 80's. The clue to the style is to not make it look too retro and dated. Keep the tattoos to a minimum and make sure that your make-up and cleavage doesn't tip the look over to trashy. With both this style and the 80's style, there's a thin line between looking cool and trashy - make sure you're on the right side of it. (An example: Lady GaGa is on the wrong side, Agyness Deyn on the right...)

So let's start backcombing our hair, and meet spring with red-painted lips and the Grease soundtrack.
